Vormlia – water and sewer network rehabilitation

Nes municipality is rehabilitating the water and sewer network at Vormlia. The site lies in an area of difficult ground conditions, close to several mapped quick clay landslide hazard zones.

Geoteknia has carried out ground investigations, assessed area stability and completed the detailed geotechnical design.

Brittle (sensitive) clay was identified, requiring careful planning and execution of the works. The project therefore sets specific execution requirements, including excavation in sections and the use of trench boxes to maintain stability.
